Gregg Garfin on UANews: Arizona's High Fire Danger and Tips for Preventing Wildfires

Monday, July 7, 2014

Dr. Gregg Garfin, an assistant professor in SNRE, has recently contributed two posts featured on the UANews Blog. The first, "Arizona Facing High Fire Danger a Year After Yarnell," reflects on last year's Yarnell Hill Fire, which resulted in the deaths of 19 firefighters, and describes the factors that make Arizona at a higher risk for wildfires this year. Low precipitation, above average temperatures, a delayed monsoon season, and other factors gives us conditions of above-normal potential for fires. Check out his second blog "Tips for Preventing Wildfires" for important tips to prevent fires in this high risk environment.
