Where
John Barrett has been the Director of the Natural Resource Use and Management Clinic at the UA James E. Rogers College of Law since 2023. Before joining the faculty at the law school, John was an attorney in private practice in Tucson for 10 years, where he focused on litigation, particularly in matters related to commercial contracts, real estate and natural resources. He has also worked in the nonprofit world in both Illinois and Arizona, focusing on environmental arts, education, threatened rangeland and land conservation. John currently works with land trusts throughout the state and currently sits on the board of the Chiricahua Land Conservancy. John will talk about how the Natural Resource Use and Management Clinic looks for projects that emphasize collaborative conservation and direct engagement with landowners and public lands agencies.
Jennifer Wendel is the Assistant Director, Arizona Adjudications Project within the Natural Resource Use and Management Clinic. Before joining the clinic, Jennifer worked as an Attorney-Advisor in the Phoenix Field Office of the Office of the Solicitor, Department of the Interior, representing agencies like the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Bureau of Land Management, and the National Park Service in land, environmental, and water matters. Prior to that, Jennifer worked as a Deputy Attorney General in the Idaho Attorney General’s Office representing the Idaho Department of Water Resources in the state’s general stream adjudications. Jen will discuss stream adjudication work.
