Ecology, Management, and Restoration of Rangelands

We research rangeland ecology, addressing drought, invasive species, and climate impacts to help restore and sustain these critical ecosystems globally.

Our faculty focus their research on better understanding the expansive and environmentally critical rangelands across the West and in arid and semi-arid regions across the globe. Our faculty collaborate extensively with rangeland managers to restore degraded areas and ensure that rangelands remain productive and healthy for generations to come. Their research addresses the impacts of drought, invasive species, land use change, and climate variability on rangeland ecology and the species that call these areas home. Our ultimate goal is for decision-makers to use our research to create policies that protect these ecosystems and sustain their contributions to our well-being.
