Onward and Upward: The Southwest Climate Science Center's Adaptation Agenda

Wednesday, December 6, 2017

Speaker: Stephen Jackson, Director, USGS. Carolyn Enquist, Deputy Director, USGS
Time: 3:00-4:00PM
Location: ENR2 S107
Abstract:Our presentation, featuring the Center’s Federal Director and Deputy Director, will provide an overview of where we’ve been and where we’re headed in the next phase of the SW CSC’s evolution and development. This will include a quick look at our science agenda, our grant-making, and topical initiatives. In particular, we will highlight new work featured in the recent special issue of Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment published on December 1, 2017, focusing on the emerging field of Translational Ecology. Modeled after translational medicine, the field aims to connect researchers in ecology with the people who apply that research on a day-to-day basis—policy makers, local governments, and natural resource managers. After the presentation, join us in a panel-audience discussion about this important partnership between the USGS and the University of Arizona.
