SNRE?s Dr. Michael Bogan discusses how the return of perennial flow to the Santa Cruz has allowed a myriad of aquatic species to rebound. Though human-induced drying of the river has decimated the region?s native biodiversity, Bogan stresses that humans can successfully restore this degraded land, allowing a chance for native species to return. The newly flowing portion in downtown Tucson will additionally boost birding opportunities and wildlife-viewing areas for Arizona?s booming eco-tourism economy.
