Dr. Scott Bonar elected second Vice President of the American Fisheries Society

Dr. Scott Bonar of the Arizona COOP Fish & Wildlife Unit has been named the second Vice President of the American Fisheries Society (AFS). Dr. Bonar was officially elected to be the organization's president during the 2020-2021 term, as announced at the Annual Meeting of the AFS in Kansas City last month. Dr. Bonar will have particular honor of being the AFS Vice President during the organization's 150th Anniversary year.

Dr. Bonar said of his new position; ?I?m honored to be elected to serve as President of the oldest and largest fisheries society in the world - a society that represents fisheries scientists and managers ranging from those who study high-seas fisheries off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland to those who manage the unique and wonderful fishes in deep canyons of our continent?s deserts.  I see great opportunities for students, scientists and others who are interested in aquatic sciences to get involved in the society, especially more of those who appreciate the superb aquatic ecosystems we have in the Southwest.?
