About this Dual Degree Program
This dual degree program provides a unique niche for graduate students to enhance their opportunities in industry, non-governmental organizations, and government by providing space to explore and gain expertise in water science and resource management, policy analysis, economics, and the application of technology to address key water-related challenges facing society.
It prepares you for a career path as a water resources manager, city or county planner, water conservation advocate, or development director.
This program gives you the opportunity to earn a Master of Public Administration from the School of Government and Public Policy and a Master of Science in Water, Society and Policy from the School of Natural Resources and the Environment within three years.

This dual degree program requires 59 units total:
- M.S. Water, Society & Policy requirements: 17 units
- 9 core units
- 2 seminar units (RNR 696W)
- 6 units of Master's Report (RNR 909)
- MPA requirements: 27 units
- 24 core units
- 3 units of Capstone (PA 594)
- Dual elective requirements: 15 units (which can be shared between the two programs)
