SNRE joins Plastic Free EcoChallenge

Tuesday, July 2, 2019

Our colleagues and partners at the Reid Park Zoo and Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum have joined the Plastic Free EcoChallenge from JULY 1 –JULY 31, 2019.
SNRE is joining the challenge and we would like you to participate with us.
Plastics made from petrochemicals, which take hundreds to thousands of years to degrade, are one of the greatest threats to our environment and our health. Each year, one million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals and sea turtles die from plastics.Humans and other terrestrial species are also negatively affected by plastics and their microscopic breakdown products.
What small changes can we make to reduce single-use plastics for one month between July 1 and July 31? Join this 30 day global challenge and tell us what YOU will do! Let us know on Instagram@uasnre (School of Natural Resources and the Environment) and twitter @UASNRE.
Take a picture of yourself holding a sign telling us what changes you plan to make in July, send your picture to marketing@cals.arizona.edu and we’ll share these pictures on the @UACALS Instagram feed periodically throughout the month of July with your name and department. If you have an Instagram account of your own, please post a pic yourself! Share some thoughts about how you’ll take on the Plastic Free EcoChallenge.
